24. Keyboard utilities
Per a escriure text en hebreu, grec o altres alfabets diferents del llatí, no n'hi ha prou amb les fonts que contenen els caràcters adequats. Cal diposar d'alguna eina informàtica que ens permeti introduir els caràcters en el text fent ús del teclat que normalment fem servir per a introduir caràcters llatins; anomenem aquestes eines controladors de teclat o, simplement, teclats. Com ja hem dit en l'apartat anterior, Windows 2000 i XP inclouen controladors de teclat per a l'hebreu no vocalitzat i per al grec clàssic o politònic (també per al grec modern); Windows XP, i també Windows 2000 amb Microsoft Word XP, inclouen controlador de teclat per al siríac. Algunes de les fonts de l'apartat anterior hem vist que se subministraven amb el corresponent controlador de teclat.

Excel·lent i utilíssim programa que carrega en el Windows els
controladors de teclat necessaris per a poder introduir el text en els diversos
alfabets. Gratuït per a us domèstic (amb limitació a dos teclats). Es pot comprar a part el programa Keyman Developer, amb el qual es poden dissenyar controladors de teclat. A partir de la versió 5.0 ofereix suport

You might use Visual Keyboard when you change your keyboard layout from one language to another. When you change keyboard layouts, the characters you see as you type might not correspond with your keyboard. Visual Keyboard lets you see the keyboard for the language you've switched to on your screen so that you can either click the keys on your screen or see the correct keys to press to enter text. For example, you might be working in an English version of Microsoft Word but want to type text in Greek. After you switch keyboard layouts from English to Greek, you can use Visual Keyboard to see the Greek keyboard layout on your screen. This keyboard matches the positioning of consonants in the modern Israeli standard keyboard.
